Definitely not. The gross salary calculated by the Federal Statistical Office takes into account the benefits for shift work and work on Sundays and public holidays (only the special benefits such as Christmas and holiday pay are not included). The amount of money –benefits – usually varies between 200 and 400 Euros. In many cases, the salary advantage only exists because nurses also work at very unusual times such as Christmas and Saturday night. There is shift work in some other industries as well. But nowhere is it as widespread as in the nursing profession.
